Spring is in the air and with it comes our first flowers!!!!

They may be small but it is SOOO nice to see some color!

It has my mind in overdrive trying to think of what all I want to plant in my flowerbeds this year. Come on Spring!

For over a year we have wanted to go and see one of our trooper’s horses in Buhl. He and his wife breed Arabians and if any one knows me they know I LOVE being around horses.

Since Buhl is on our way home from Idaho Falls we decided to stop by this weekend. They currently have over 40 horses and should have a few babies running around late April or early May.

Needless to say I was in heaven!

They all had their heavy winter coasts on but they were still beautiful!

Aaron and his wife Cindy were amazing and introduced us to their horses.

I was even able to feel a one of the pregnant mares and felt the baby moving around.

We really had fun and I hope we can make it back in May to see a few of the babies! Thanks to Aaron and Cindy for taking time out to show us around!

This weekend while we were in Idaho Falls, we decided to go on a ride along with some of our troopers to get a better grasp on the area. It was also really nice to get to know the guys a little better. I was able to ride with Trooper Barnes and Steve was able to ride with Sgt Zaugg. Most of the day was spent learning the area and common places they stop out on. I can not tell you how helpful that is as a dispatcher! The better I know that area the better I can dispatch them on calls, or get back up going when needed. We both take our jobs very seriously and if we were to make a mistake it could be very costly to one of the guys. It also helps to see what they are going through on their side and helps me think more like a cop which in turn makes me a stronger dispatcher. I am very thankful that we were able to go on a ride with the guys, thanks again for letting us ride with you!

This weekend was a busy weekend; we were able to go to Idaho Falls to meet our new niece Emma Joy Toyn! Steve had to work the first few hours Friday morning while I tried to catch a few hours of sleep (I got off at 6am) before we headed out at noon. The drive was windy but good, and before I knew it we were there and I was able to hold my sweet, little niece for the first time.

It always amazes me how small newborns are!

Her little feet are the size of my thumb!

My brother Greg was there as well and if I wasn’t holding her Greg was.

And if Greg wasn’t Steve was, she is very much loved!

I also loved being able to spend some time with my little nephews Brennan and Brayden!

They were both sick with a cold and Brennan just wanted to cuddle most of the time we were there.

I was more then happy to hold him and I loved that time I was able to spend with him.

Thank you Steph and Nick for letting us come and see you!

We had so much fun and we are counting down the days when we can see you guys again!

Since my sister had her baby my mom decided to bring the twins back to Boise for a week while my sister recovers from her C-section. Since I have to work most of the days they are in town I jumped at the chance to hang out with them today and decided to take them swimming at the Y. My dad had the day off so we invited him along and with as fast as those boys can move now days it was nice to have the extra hands! The boys LOVED the kiddy pool. Brennan was always moving, trying to see everything at once (making it hard to get pics of him!).

Brayden was happy just staying in one place and splashing his little heart away.

Here are some of my favorite pictures.

Once they were worn out we headed over to Burger King for lunch and then put them down for a nap before I had to head off to work.

I love those boys so and feel luck to be able to spend some much needed time with them.

Valentines Day was nice and relaxed this year. The night before (until 7 that morning) I was on a ride along with one of my ISP officers (which was a blast!). When I arrived home from my long night out I walked into the house to find this.

4 roses, one for each year that we have been together, I loved it! Needless to say once I came off of my adrenaline high from being out all night and busting bad guys I spent most of the morning and early afternoon sleeping. When I finally did tear myself out of bed I found my second surprise, comfy/ silky pjs!

For Steve I took all of our blogs from 2007 and put them into a book.

I have to say I think it turned out really good!

The evening was spent with the ones I love.

Steve made a wonderful dinner that was followed up with a mouth watering dessert that just melted in your mouth.

We watched Couples Retreat followed up by one of our favorite show Amazing Race. It was a perfect way to spend Valentines Day.

This blog is a little overdue but I wanted to get it in here (Steve really wanted to write it but never got around to it). A few weeks ago my dad invited Steve to come up to Bogus and go skiing with him and well I decided to tag along (I am WAY too out of shape right now to do much of anything but watch, sad I know). We left bright and early and after a quick stop at the ski rental shop we headed up the road to the ski resort. About half way up the mountain we popped out of the clouds and into gorgeous sunny weather.

While I am not a big fan of snow, the sight of the new fallen snow with the sun bouncing off of it was breathtaking. Once we got arrived at the resort Steve quickly found out that his boats that he had just rented would not work out and the left as it was crushing his toes together with each step he took. Luckily the ski rental shop there fitted him with a new set of boats at no charge (which from what we hear is usually unheard of, it rocked). The mountain was perfect and not crowed.

While Steve has been skiing once before it was a LONG time ago when he was just a kid so they started off on the bunny hill.

Both my dad and I were VERY impressed how well Steve did. For a beginner skier he spent most of his time up on his skis (when I went I spent most of my free time on the ground).

He did so well that my dad decided it was time to graduate him from the bunny hill to the real deal.

At that point I went into the ski lodge to warm up so I didn’t see what happened but this is what I heard. The run started off just fine but somehow Steve ended up with his skis right in front of him and the next thing he knew he was flying down the mountain at an electric speed. He flew past other skiers as if they were holding still. His brain was trying to catch up to his body to try and figure out what to do but nothing felt right- if he tried to fall it would hurt, if he ran into another person it would hurt, if he tried to catch a tree it would hurt, it was a no win situation! Some how he made it to the bottom of the hill in one piece and without killing himself or someone else. When my dad made it to him they both decided that maybe the bunny hill was the safeties place to stick too. After another run on the bunny hill Steve came into the lodge to rest while my dad headed up the mountain for a few more runs. It was a fun day and made me want to get into shape so I am not left watching the fun but joining in the fun next time.

She is here! Meet my cute little new niece Emma Joy Toyn. She was born on at 10:20 by a C-section and mom and baby are doing great. I can’t wait to meet her and hold her and spoil her!

While our dogs are inside at night and a large part of the time when we are home, they also spend a good amount of time outside while we are off at work, or during the day while we are sleeping (I get up every morning at 8 and let them out, feed them their breakfast and then crawl back in bed). With their dog run they have room to play, a patio to give them cover and a space for them to eat (ya they are a little spoiled, that happens when you don’t have kids!). We have had a plastic dog house for them to stay warm but only Bosco used it and in truth I am not sure how warm it kept him since there was no insulation to trap in heat. We have talked off and on about either buying a nice dog house or making one, but have never gotten around to it so I started to toss around the idea of having someone make one. I asked around at work one night if anyone knew how to make one, and that was how I ended up finding Mark. He built a beautiful, solid, dog house that is well insulated, has a removable roof, and just the right amount of room for our dogs.

The roof is flat since a lot of dogs also like napping on top of the dog house as much as they like napping inside of it.

Bosco was the first to try it out and ran in and out of it without thinking twice.

Molly was a little more cautious and smelled it, checked it out from all angles, watched Bosco going in, made sure it was “code 4” before she went inside. Once inside she seemed to love it and was the first to lay down and relax in it.

We added straw inside for comfort and warmth and I think it looks great!

I am so excited on the wonderful job Mark did and could not be more happy it, thanks Mark!!!!
